Topic: DSVideo encoder / Linked GUI tools in Downloads page

I’ve linked both the GUI tools created by Zanzer7 and rWatcher in the Downloads page. I’ll try to keep them as up to date as possible as changes happen.

I also want to mention that Dominic and I have been working on a new release of DSVideo’s player and encoder, with various fixes and updates. I can’t give an exact release date yet, but I’ll post on the main website when we’ve made it live.

EDIT: Oh and you guys might like this. I made a set of DSVideo stickers via moo.com.

Topic: DSVideo encoder / DSVideo Encoder GUI (RC4), batch processing

RiceCake, I suggest trying DSVE-GUI, as I am no longer actively developing this application.

Furthermore, due to restructuring of my website, the new project URL is:
http://dev.zanzer7.net/app/dsvideo-gui/

Posts in this topic have been edited to reflect this change.

Matthew:

OK, can you try these steps. You will need to put in the proper paths to your files. I assume DSVideo and your AVI file are in C:\DSVideo in this example. If it helps, make that directory and copy the example exactly:

1. Click Start -> Run -> type “cmd.exe” and hit return
2. In the terminal, type:

cd c:\DSVideo
dsvideo.exe movie.avi

3. Tell us what it says in the window.

Topic: DSVideo encoder / I cannot convert.

First I would like to say that I created a profile here just for this post I believe. EDIT I did. LOL
I am having the same problem. Here’s the best information I can give on my problem.
I was getting where it doesn’t show a %complete either so I decided to eliminate the GUI loader form the problem. Running from a command I get the following error message.

dsvideo application error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click ok to terminate the application.

I am using Windows Xp on system. Although I didn’t have the 3.5 netframework. I downloaded that and tried again with the following results.

When I dragged dsvideo to command then hit space and dragged a video to the command box it say that the file is not a batch file. I tried using the Windows GUI plugin again and first file I selected said input sample rate was too low, so I chose a different file. Now it’s currently showing the %complete. So hopefully this will help people.
Follow these steps completely…. the post at the bottom.

http://forums.recoil.org/forums/1/topics/180

And for those of you with an R4 trying to get it to work. Here is how I got the sample video to play.

First if you have all the software downloaded to the memory card DON’T MOVE IT. Leave everything the way it was when you were able to play roms.

copy the video player onto the memory card either in the root = don’t go into any folders, or in your ROM folder if you have one. The video player is an NDS file which means it shows up like a game. So choose game look for the dsvideo-r4tf-1.01.NDS file and play it. Like you would any other backup ROM that you own the original for. It will ask you about creating a sav file. I did and do not have a problem out of it.

If I can be of further assistance feel free to email me. 210 neo at the google mail

obviously without spaces and whatnot. What?!? I’m paranoid of spam bots aren’t you???

Have just done that but also installed the more recent windows GUI recently posted, http://forums.recoil.org/forums/2/topics/122. Not sure which of the two elements resolved my problem, but it’s currently converting Star Wars episode 3 quite happily so that’s one satisfied 6 year old when he get’s home from school :-)

Hmm could you try to reinstall the .NET 3.5 framework? That seems to be the cause of many people’s problems

Topic: DSVideo encoder / I cannot convert.

Hi,

I’m experiencing the same issue, but strangely enough it worked last week!
Presumably I’ve done something in the meantime to screw with the setup on my laptop, but now I run the dsvideo in a command window and get an application error; The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application.
When I run the windows GUI, it just hangs as Matthew experiences.

I’ve tried deleting everything and starting again, but it makes no difference (so far as I keep on trying different procedures)

Any ideas?

Ok, can you open up a command terminal (cmd.exe) and then drag the dsvideo.exe file into it, and hit space, then drag your movie file into it, and hit enter, and tell us what is says? Does it just hang there doing nothing? Does it bail out with an error?

Ok ok so if they are meant to be .dsv that explains it, But when i convert a video there is no persentage. It also dosent create a file.

Should there be?
I have taken a screen shot of when i convert the video. It does nothing else other than this.

Sorry you might need to zoom in.

Can you play the example intro video we include in the DSVideo package?

DSVideo does not play DPG files. You need to encode them as ”.dsv” files using the encoder. Does the DSVideo encoder produce a .dsv file from your AVI file?

Topic: DSVideo encoder / I cannot convert.

I have done everything on the DS site and the nds file works on the Nintendo DS, its just when i come to encode the videos I place the converter into the folder with the windows converter and it opens find, Its just that I select the file and output and it says the video on the blac screen but nothing whatsoever after that, no percentage, nothing. I am trying to convert AVI format, I have tried MPEG 2 still nothing. I have tried all the DPG converters I have found and all give error. I have Windows Framework 3.5. Also I used the converter that comes with Moonshell, It converter it fine it’s just i placed it on my DS card card and it cant find it using DSVideo.

Please help, I really want to get this working.

Topic: DSVideo encoder / Error!

You must download the Windows encoder and place the dsvideo.exe file in the same folder as the GUI encoder application you are running.

Also, make sure you have Microsoft .NET 3.5 installed.

Topic: DSVideo encoder / DSVE-GUI Version 2.1 Release (Windows Frontend)

Try:

mencoder “SOURCEVIDEO” -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=224:vcodec=mpeg2video:autoaspect:vbitrate=1800 -of mpeg -o “TEMPVIDEO”

I’m not sure what would be happening to the audio in your first example.

I think I messed up a setting in my secondary encoder.

I have it pointing to my copy of “mencoder.exe” that worked once or twice, but I think I messed up the parameters. If I check the box and add a job to the list then hit Start it simply blanks the list as if it finished and nothing gets done. Mine currently says the following:
SOURCEVIDEO” -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:autoaspect:vbitrate=1800 -of mpeg -o “TEMPVIDEO

Does that seem right? Has anyone had luck with better settings? I don’t know enough about mencoder to know if that should work.

Hmm ok then there’s definitely something up with your developer tools installation. Can you reinstall the developer package from your installation disc?

Hey,

I have an iTouch DS and I got it to work on my iTouch.
Go to http://dsvideo.recoil.org/downloads

Look for NDS Player Binaries, it’s the first heading.
Download: dsvideo-1.01.zip
Then unzip

Now this package comes with a few .NDS files,
The one that worked on my iTouch was the .NDS file: dsvideo-r4tf-1.01

Doesn’t need to be patched or nothing.
Just put it anywhere on you SD and it will work.

Hope that helps

Topic: DSVideo encoder / Mac and Linux users

Ubuntu 8.10, amd64:
- running x64 binary => “libavcodec.so.1d” error
- running x64 binary after ln-ing libavcodec.so.whatever to libavcodec.so.1d => “segmentation fault” message
- compiling from source => motion.cc error (see MikeL’s reply above)

Windows XP, x86, .NET3.5 installed:
- creates an empty (0 bytes) output file, shows no progress

update that was a video file issue – other videos are encoded well (will have to look what codec that video has)

so here is the tough solution for x64 ubuntu users:
1. install getlibs
sudo apt-get install getlibs
2. download 32-bit libavcodec1d, libavformat1d and libavutil1d deb packages
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/i386/libavcode…
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/i386/libavform…
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/i386/libavutil…
3. install those using getlibs
sudo getlibs -i libav*
4. run getlibs on dsvideo.x86 to install other missing 32-bit libs
sudo getlibs dsvideo.x86
(getlibs will automatically detect and install all the missing libs – the trick doesn’t work for libav-1d libs that’s why we needed all the previous steps… seems like libav-1d packages are deprecated?)
5. run “sudo getlibs dsvideo.x86” just to be sure – you should get this message:
“This application isn’t missing any dependencies”
6. and that’s it. run ./dsvideo.x86 under 64-bit ubuntu
