Love the new alert facilities.

Would it be possible to have:

An option for a repeating alert for messages in the background (tick box and enter time between alerts).

(If the screensaver comes on, are all messages treated as being in the background?)

A jump to front (but NOT stealing focus) choice.

Automatically accept files from contacts choice.

Automatic login with default account.

On disconnect automatic reconnect and X tries at intervals of Y time on failure.

(The above would allow a machine to be switched on without the screen, to receive messages).

Guest account mode – where no user details are saved.

I think there’s a resounding “yes” – all of these are possible. Many are on my list of planned things already (perhaps I should update the website with a few more details on fiddly little things I want to do). Some take more effort than you might think, so I’ve been putting them off a bit – the automatic reconnect, for example, wants a new “signing in” screen in the status window and various bits of restructuring internally if I want to do it properly (which I do!).

The rest are fairly straightforward, so I’ll have a go at them – I especially like the “all messages in background while screensaver active” idea.

Another couple:

A quick BRB option. Something like adjust on the icon throws up a box to enter a quick BRB message (BRB as default), this is then set to status and sent to all open windows.

Tabbed messaging, if a tidy way can be thought out that doesn’t require input focus in the front window.

I just got back at my PC and found a message telling me that the connection to MSN had been lost.

My feature request: Could messages such as this one be multitasking?
